Who am I?

My name is Nick Wilschut, born in 2003 and I'm a musician and designer from the Netherlands. I study Communication and Multimedia design at Avans University of applied science. I specialize in critical, visual and sound design.

I also play, write and produce music in my band PΣЯMΣΛTOЯ. Ive done most of the artwork/social media visuals for the band.

And as a designer?

For me everything serves as a purpose, so I think about that a lot when I'm working on a project. What purpose do I want this to serve. Thats why I love to use a lot of storytelling in my work. That storytelling can be found in my critical designs, artwork and musical compositions and lyrics.

I also like to be a bit chaotic in my design process, since it helps me cross boundaries, but I tend to be very regimented in my end result.

Critical designs

'Inbalance'

A hand-drawn artwork about the destructive nature of humanity. This artwork shows how humans are destroying their origin planet and source of life, in an effort to control it.

I've gotten some great responses on this artwork, especially when I used it for my solo EP; Chaos Catalyst. (more details below.)

'Kinder combat'

A design to start conversations about the legal weapon industry among children in the Netherlands.

For taking this picture, we went to a real life arcade, and got some strange looks. This was a great user test, because everyone was sort of shocked to hear the story after the design started the conversation.

'As the blood ran cold' | Single

The first single for my solo album. "Fast, Fierce and a wall of sound." This is how people have described this song.

The first single for the new Permeator album. This song is a bit of a departure from my previous work, being more catchy and straight forward then my other stuff, but I'm very proud of the result. Also I designed and made the artwork for this single.

Permeator live PRO-SHOT

This is a video series which shows the full live performance by my band permeator in the Popcentrale on september 29th 2023. We used multiple camera's on this, and getting all the instruments on seperate tracks in order to mix it all was quite a challenge, however I'm super happy with the end result and can't wait to make the next one!

Till I Collapse

This was the first time I got asked to do a full audio and video production for a group of people. This group being students from the Metal Factory in Eindhoven. And the production being everything you see/hear except for playing the guitar, drums, and shooting 1 scene. I ended up doing some guest vocals by special request, that's why I couldn't shoot that 1 scene, simply because I am in it.

Buro Happy | 15 year anniversary

The company of Buro Happy turned 15 this year. As the son of company owner Annelies Wilschut, I was asked to edit a celebration video!
